This coming year will be my kanreki, marking the full 60 year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. It’s considered a point of rebirth and renewal as the cycle begins again, a second childhood. I want to weave this kanreki milestone into the rest of the magic in my life, including my annual theme word.
Nothing like adding a little pressure to the often difficult task of choosing a theme word. Some years I deliberate for months before finding the right one.
But this year’s word came early and in an unusual way. Back in October, I was asked to give a lifestyle interview about my plans for 2026. Writing about what I want to do allowed my guide word to reveal itself in just a few moments.
Having been decided so early, is it ironic that the word is “present”? As in
- being in the present moment
- presenting workshops and classes
- giving presents and gratefully receiving them.
I am certain I couldn’t have selected a better word for this auspicious year.
