A record year

Tod & I celebrated our 33rd anniversary yesterday with our first overnight trip since January 2020. Where did we go? What did we do?

We visited Otaki Herb Garden and stayed overnight at Mochinoki. It’s only an hour north of home, but a refreshing change of scenery and tempo. We relaxed to the max and ate a lot of lovely food.

The weather was rainy the whole time, so we enjoyed our time indoors with onsen baths, views from the rotenburo, and massage appliances in between meals.

When we got home this morning, a gift was waiting for me. Tod replaced my favorite pajamas. For more than 15 years, I have been wearing a set of People Tree organic cotton pjs that Tod bought at an office event. They are the most comfortable fabric and cut; I couldn’t bear to part with them despite the increasing number of holes and tatters. I even packed them for Mochinoki last night. So when I saw the new pair, I cried with delight.

I am married to a thoughtful human – for 33 years. Valentine’s Day 2023 will be 33 & a 1/3 exactly. The real “record anniversary.”
