Starting in December

I don’t know why, but I often get a head-start on “new year, new me” by starting things in December. Maybe it’s a result of summing up the year and seeing the gaps in accomplishments or dreams. Or perhaps the lull between Christmas and the new year presents extra time to fill. I’m not sure.

Last year, I began a year-long course on natural dyes, and drafted the International Resident’s Ending Note.

This year, I’ve just completed an online drawing class that I picked up at Christmas. The tapestry I started earlier this month is almost finished. And I’ve been putting together a new workbook for Drawing Meditations called The Art of Rules. It comes with cards.

Also, I’ve slowed down on drinking alcohol and started eating more vegetarian meals, with an intention of increasing both those habits in the coming months for the benefit of my health.

So when January comes in two days, I don’t need to dread New Year’s resolutions. I’ve already started.
