Pegboard

Pegboard is a total delight.

I really want to have my tools where I can see them. They have lived for a decade inside boxes in an attempt to keep rust and mould at bay. Now that I have an enclosed workplace, I can array them neatly and make that dream come true.

My father’s workshop was neat and tidy with tools hanging above his workbench. When he gifted me a set of tools for my 12th birthday, he mounted them on a board just like his. I have always been proud of being trusted to own those tools as a kid.

And now I feel like I have recreated that scene in my shed. Dad was definitely with me, offering ghostly guidance as I grouped the tools by use and figured out how to puzzle the groups together.

I remembered his jars of screws, sorted by size, as I picked through the mess of fasteners that’s accumulated in tupperware over the years. And I used my label maker liberally.

Honestly, it was the best day.
