Flea Market

At the end of last year, Mamiko asked me if I’d help her organise a flea market at Hangar eight. Sure! Several months of planning, design work, recruiting vendors, and enticing customers culminated in a good success today for the International Mottainai Flea Market.

We had 27 vendors and lots of people came to shop on this sunny Saturday. Everyone turned at least a small profit. Hangar served 60+ meals, putting us in third place for largest event at the venue.

I met lots of useful people who I will be in touch with again. At my booth, I sold some fabric, a spare sewing machine, clothes, and tiles! My most popular section was the “50 yen corner” filled with miscellany.

We’re planning to do another IMFM in November. We learned things from this one that we’ll apply to make the autumn edition even better.
