Gantt Charts & Moving Dates

My general penchant for thinking visually combined with years of project management have made me a fan of Gantt charts and other time-based visualisations.

So when Sasaki-san and I talked over the schedule last week and he told me the general flow of the project from here to the end, I had to turn it into a chart.

Our target handover was the last day of July, but we are shifting that two weeks into August. We should finish “before Obon” (which is the week of August 15th) which was about what I figured from the beginning.

It’s getting close. So exciting!

As for moving…

There are lots of DIY activities that need to happen between handover and moving in: floor finishes upstairs and downstairs, closet fittings, lighting fixtures, delivery of appliances and so on.

Obon will delay progress because many shops are closed and deliveries on hold until after the holiday week. So I need to think ahead and get all the supplies ready in advance.

We are fortunate not to have a hard deadline on moving out, so I will bring non-essentials over a bit at a time in The Cow and we’ll call on our friends for one weekend to finish the large sized things and the cats.
